The Message of Grace

Exploring the Wonder of God's Grace

The Superiority of the Son of God

God, having spoken long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days spoke to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds, who is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power; who, having accomplished cleansing for sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they. (Hebrews 1:1–4 LSB)

The Letter to the Hebrews is the most important New Testament book linking the sacrifice of Christ on the cross with the Old Testament. Two key verses explain the transition from before Christ to after the resurrection of Christ:
But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises. (Hebrews 8:6 LSB)

And:

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, (Hebrews 10:19–21 LSB) (Verse 19 included with verse 20 to clarify the reference )
